Solkattu
It is the system of rhythmic syllables used to represent percussion patterns. It works as a “language” that translates the strokes of instruments such as the mridangam into vocal sounds (for example: ta, ka, di, mi). It is used both for learning and for teaching and structuring complex rhythms.

Konnakol
It is the vocal performance of that system. In other words, when a performer recites those rhythmic syllables aloud in an artistic and expressive way, they are performing konnakol. It is considered a highly virtuosic form of vocal percussion, where complex rhythmic patterns are executed with great precision and speed.

Es el sistema de sílabas rítmicas utilizado para representar patrones de percusión. Funciona como un “lenguaje” que traduce los golpes de instrumentos como el mridangam en sonidos vocales (por ejemplo: ta, ka, di, mi). Se usa tanto para aprender como para enseñar y estructurar ritmos complejos.

Konnakol
Es la interpretación vocal de ese sistema. Es decir, cuando un@ intérprete recita en voz alta esas sílabas rítmicas de forma artística y expresiva, está haciendo konnakol. Se considera una forma de percusión vocal muy virtuosa, donde se ejecutan patrones rítmicos complejos con gran precisión y velocidad.
